I wrote two collections of personal essays about 18 months apart, both based on my daily walks in Boyce Park. The first, This Fall, was written in the fall of 2015, the second, Last Spring, in the winter of 2018. My wife and I walked these woods for about 10 years before her sudden death, so what I see and write is inflected by that loss, as well as by the spectacle of the seasons I am witnessing and by whatever I happen to be teaching and reading and thinking at the moment, all in my head all at the same time.
For each, I include the whole text, printable PDF versions, and audiobook renderings in my own voice, whichever suits your preferences. You can access all of this via the drop-down menu in this section.
