Music

My original music: In 2017 I began to binge-write my own songs. This burst lasted for three years, 60 some songs, 9 albums. It then stopped completely. I have no way to account for it aside from the sometimes strange effects of trauma on creative production. That work is now archived at https://paulkameen.bandcamp.com

My cover albums: Since I started singing in 2016 I’ve recorded dozens of cover albums, mostly to share with family and friends. There is something profoundly therapeutic about translating someone else’s song into your own voice and nervous system, until it’s yours not theirs, then singing it out, recording it, and listening to it come back. Some strange healing circuit gets completed in the process. I particularly enjoy singing songs from “before my time,” Big Band era songs for example. No idea why. Here are a couple of albums of such songs:

Cry Me a River

The Nearness of You

Here’s  a group of angstier, bluesier songs, another favorite genre of mine.

Trouble

And here’s part of a “tribute” album I made years ago, songs by one of my all-time favorite singers, Buddy Holly.
