August 16, 2025: This book compiles the 21 Substack posts I created during the summer of 2025. They range from poetics, to quantum mechanics, to philosophy, to religion, to politics, to history, my various passions, all of which become synergistically related components in my ongoing attempt to make sense of and survive the current chaos in American culture, the overall message and tenor mostly positive and hopeful. The title is a play on”backpacking,” the traditional mode of adventure-travel (which is what this felt like) on one’s summer vacation. In my case the travel was simply in my spirit and in the spirits of all those writers, gurus and scientists I ended up writing about.
